How One Law Firm Went from Page 4 to Page 1 in 6 Months (Without Paying for Ads)

When Harrison & Park Employment Law first contacted us, they had the same problem as dozens of other professional services firms we’ve worked with: years of expertise, a site that looked fine on the surface, and virtually no organic visibility.

They were getting around 8 organic leads per month from their website. Their biggest competitor was getting 60+. The difference wasn’t better service or more experience — it was pure SEO infrastructure.

Here’s exactly what we found, what we did, and what happened to their results over six months on our SEO Growth plan.

What the Audit Found

Technical issues (Month 1 priority):

  • 847 crawl errors, including 23 broken internal links
  • Duplicate content from URL parameter issues (session IDs being indexed)
  • No structured data markup — a significant missed opportunity for a law firm
  • Page speed: 38/100 on mobile, driven by 4.2MB of unoptimized images
  • Google Business Profile: 60% complete, no posts in 14 months, 6 unanswered reviews

Content gaps:

  • No location-specific service pages (they served 3 cities but only had 1 generic “service area” page)
  • No FAQ content targeting the questions their potential clients actually search
  • Practice area pages averaging 280 words — well below the depth needed to rank competitively

What We Did (Month by Month)

Month 1: Technical foundation
Fixed all crawl errors, resolved duplicate content, implemented LocalBusiness and LegalService schema, optimized all images, configured caching. PageSpeed went from 38 to 74 on mobile.

Month 2: Content architecture
Built out practice area pages to 1,200–1,800 words each with real case context, created location pages for all three service cities, and built an FAQ section targeting 40 high-intent questions their prospects search.

Month 3–4: Google Business Profile and local citations
Completed their GBP profile, published weekly posts, responded to all reviews (including adding appropriate responses to old ones), and built out 45 consistent local citations across major directories.

Month 5–6: Link building and content expansion
Secured 4 links from local bar association resources and 2 from regional business publications. Published 2 long-form guides on employment law topics with genuine search volume.

Results at 6 Months

  • Organic traffic: +287% (from ~180 sessions/month to ~700 sessions/month)
  • Keywords ranking on page 1: 14 (up from 2)
  • Google Business Profile views: +340%
  • Organic leads: 8/month → 31/month
  • One keyword (“employment lawyer [city]”) moved from position 28 to position 3

What Made the Difference

Three things stand out from this engagement:

First, the technical foundation mattered more than expected. The crawl errors and duplicate content were actively preventing good pages from ranking. You can’t outwrite technical problems.

Second, location pages are consistently underestimated by professional services firms. The traffic gains from city-specific pages were larger than any other single content investment we made.

Third, Google Business Profile was the fastest win. Within 6 weeks of optimizing their profile and posting consistently, GBP-driven calls increased by 160%.

None of this was magic. It was systematic work, done in the right order, maintained consistently. That’s what SEO actually looks like.
